The 2016 Summer Olympic Games begins this Friday!

The 2016 Summer Olympic Games begins this Friday. The Olympic opening ceremony will air Friday, August 5th at 7/6c on NBC, or you can watch live on nbcolympics.com.

Screen Shot 2016-08-03 at 3.58.47 PMThe men and women swim teams and individual events are expected to be the biggest draw in the United States, with the Men’s 400m individual medley and freestyle airing on Saturday, August 6 and the women’s 100m butterfly and men’s 4×100 freestyle relay airing on Sunday.

 

Michael Phelps, as the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time, has been selected as the flag bearer for the Rio games. He will also appear in the opening ceremonies for the U.S. team.

The expected star of the U.S. women swimmers is 19 year old Lilly King. She is expected, as fastest woman in the world, to win the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

American gymnast Simone Biles is the first woman to Screen Shot 2016-08-03 at 3.57.09 PMwin 3 straight world championships. She is expected to keep up that pace at this year’s games and become a household name, in the spirit of gymnastic heroes in Olympic history for the United States.
