Brie Larson brushes up on Captain Marvel

Brie Larson showed she’s already taking her role as Captain Marvel seriously in a Twitter photo shared Saturday. Larson is decked out in a Captain Marvel hoodie while perusing “Captain Marvel Vol. 1: Higher, Further, Faster, More” by Kelly Sue DeConnick and David Lopez.

The Oscar-winning actress was confirmed as Carol Danvers during San Diego Comic-Con last month following weeks of speculation. Larson as long been a fan favorite for the role, although she admitted in 2015 she had no idea who the character was. Kudos to her for already doing her homework.

Danvers assumed the role of Captain Marvel in the ongoing series in 2012. The character is the first female superhero to get her own Marvel Studios movie. DeConnick says the former Air Force pilot with half-alien DNA is meant to have the swagger of record-setting aviator Gen. Chuck Yeager. She can also fly and shoot beams from her hands.

While no director has been attached to the film yet, “Inside Out” writer Meg LaFauve and “Guardians of the Galaxy” co-author Nicole Perlman are working on the script. Marvel’s Kevin Feige is producing.

The film is set for a March 8, 2019 release. Although, we are very likely to see a Captain Marvel cameo in “Black Panther” or “Avengers: Infinity War.”
