“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” Olympic Trailer Premiere

“The world is coming undone. Imperial flags reign across the galaxy.”

“Rogue One” is an anthology story not in the trilogy, but existing as a story that borders between Episode III and Episode IV. The Rebels are attempting to steal the plans for the Death Star from the Empire. This is the story of how the plans end up in Leia’s hands.

The official synopsis for “Rogue One” was released prior to the trailer:

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One is written by Chris Weitz and John Knoll and stars Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook, Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Warwick Davis as Bistan, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa and James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. The movie will hit theaters December 16, 2016, along with TIE Fighters and At-Ats!
