Wonder Woman Lynda Carter joins Supergirl Melissa Benoist on set
Great Hera! It’s finally happening!
“Supergirl” star Melissa Benoist shared an Instagram post of the moment we’ve been waiting for. Wonder Woman herself — Lynda Carter— joined Benoist on the set of the CW superhero series. Carter, who is known for bringing the Amazonian princess to life on the small screen, will have a recurring role as the President of the United States.
“Met a wonderful woman today,” Benoist captioned the post.
Carter shared the enthusiasm on social media, sharing on Facebook, “Having so much fun filming Supergirl on the CW with Melissa Benoist.”
Carter will make her first appearance as commander-in-chief in Episode 3. In addition to playing Diana Prince for 60 episodes in the 1970s, she last guest starred in “Two and a Half Men” in 2013 and made an appearance on “Smallville” in 2007.
Carter isn’t the only former superhero to stop by the CBS-turned-CW series. Helen Slater, star of the 1984 “Supergirl” film had a recurring role last season. Dean Cain, who played the man of steel in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and Laura Vandervoort, Supergirl on “Smallville” also appeared.
Also this season, the show has tapped “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Hoechlin to guest star as Superman. Benoist and “The Flash” star Grant Gustin, both “Glee” alumni, will be featured in musical crossover episode in early 2017.
“Supergirl” season 2 premieres at 8 p.m. Oct 10 on the CW.
