Dr. Ken Season 2 is the prescription for Friday fun

Before Monday’s presidential debate,

when everyone will be talking about how we hate each other and how divided our nation is, how about a weekend of laughs and family fun? All in favor, say ‘Doctor Ken!’

Veteran actor, Dana Lee plays Ken’s father.

“Dr. Ken” is back and we couldn’t be happier. The only “deplorable” person we want to talk about this Friday night is our favorite office manager, Pat, played by comic legend Dave Foley. He’s on fire this season, as the unrelenting boss. This season, he’s in an on-again-off-again relationship with the incredibly talented and funny Tisha Campbell-Martin, who plays the office receptionist Damona.

This season, we’re going to see more of veteran actor, Dana Lee. This is exciting for me, because I’ve followed his career for more than 30 years (though I didn’t even know it) through television shows
like “Starsky and Hutch,” “Baretta,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Fall Guy,” “The Greatest American Hero,” “T.J. Hooker,” “The A-Team” and every action series of the 1980s! Lee was absolutely an integral part of my childhood. Lee plays Ken’s dad, a rough-around-the-edges kind of old school guy, still coming to terms with the idea that his son is an adult with a family of his own.

So office politics may come into play this weekend, because this is the season we’ll see Ken’s incredibly funny wife Allison (my favorite: Suzy Nakamura) working with Ken at Welltopia. More on-screen time for Nakamura? I’m definitely not complaining!

Jonathan Slavin, who plays Clark, is pulling double duty on the campaign trail this season. He’s also on the new Wednesday series, “Speechless,” which premiered this past week. But the only debate we want to see tonight is the one between brother and sister, Dave and Molly (Albert Tsai and Krista Marie Yu)!

Want in on the fun? Many of the cast will be live tweeting with the hashtag #drken during tonight’s episode, which begins at 8:30/7:30c on ABC. So let’s put party politics aside for the night and all vote for laughs!
