Taylor Swift: Look What You Made Me Do Hits 18M Youtube Views in 12 Hours
Taylor Swift’s new album, Reputation isn’t even out yet and fans are already making it a bigger hit than anyone could have predicted. With the VMA show last night, Swift premiered her video to an audience who otherwise had nothing worth tuning in for. “Look What You Made Me Do” is a pretty easy to understand statement to the people who have thrown accusations and hatred at Swift since the earliest days of her career.
Now, within 12 hours of its premiere, Swift’s Youtube numbers make the case that the new album is already on pace to outsell its competition, namely Katy Perry’s (last night’s host of the VMAs) album “Witness,” which has already dropped from the Billboard Albums and Singles.
“Look What You Made Me Do” has, in a single day, sold more downloads than any single song has in a week for more than six months. In only its first week, it’s on pace for more than half-a-million downloads and should easily be then number one single and album. The first single seems to be a clear departure from the tone of the previous album, which was also extremely successful. The catchy lyrics, though a bit darker, still is one that you thankfully won’t be able to shake off.
