E.T. The Extra Terrestrial Returns To Theaters This September

Two of the biggest movies from my childhood turn 35 years old this year and both of them are returning to the big screen to celebrate, thanks to Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial both are part of the TCM Big Screen Classics event this year and will offer those looking for something special in September a chance to relive movie magic.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan will show in the Paramount Pictures director’s cut version on September 10th and September 13th in select theaters. Perhaps one of the greatest of the Star Trek franchise, Nicholas Meyer’s directorial tale of the original series villain, Khan, played by Ricardo Montalban in the infamous story of the stolen device, Project Genesis. The film will have an exclusive introduction from Captain James T. Kirk, or as he is known today, William Shatner.

The other of the great sci-fi fall events takes us back to the day that Elliot (Henry Thomas), Gertie (Drew Barrymore and Michael (Robert MacNaughton) discover a friend from out of this world and their efforts to help him get home. Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s hit, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, won four Academy Awards and is considered one of the finest family films by critics and fans, alike.

One of the most memorable scores in film history by legendary composer John Williams will take you back to the first time you saw this gem. No one should miss it and it’s just in time to prepare us for the upcoming holiday season, as it hits theaters on September 17th and 20th.
