‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ releases full-length trailer
The first full-length trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”was released during Monday Night football tonight. The footage was the first fans had seen of the highly anticipated Episode 8 since Star Wars Celebration in April.
“The Last Jedi” picks up immediately after the events of “The Force Awakens” with Rey (Daisy Ridley) seeking out secluded Jedi Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who is living a remote existence on the planet of Ahch-To.
The trailer draws parallels between Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) past and Rey’s future. As Ren turns to the Dark Side, Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) praises him, “When I found you, I saw raw, untamed power. And beyond that, something truly special.”
Meanwhile, once Luke sees the power Rey harnesses, he proclaims, “I’ve seen this raw strength once before. It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”
The trailer ends with Rey pleading, “I need someone to show me my place in all this” as we see Kylo Ren extend his hand.
The film will be Carrie Fisher’s final performance as General Leia Organa following her untimely death last December. “The Last Jedi” hits theaters on Dec. 15.
